Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 August 2026
This site is run by Cédric Duma, who is the data controller for everything described below. You can reach a human at contact@asymptoteworks.com.
This page explains what is collected, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
The short version
You can read this site and play the game without an account and without giving a name. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics measure how the site is used. If you create an account, your saved game is stored on our server so you do not lose months of play. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared for advertising.
What is collected
If you only visit the site. Standard server logs (IP address, browser, requested page, timestamp), kept for security and troubleshooting. If, and only if, you consent, analytics cookies described below.
If you play without an account. The game runs in your browser. Your progress is stored locally on your device and synchronised to our server under a random identifier that is not linked to you. You are shown a resume code so you can recover that game.
If you create an account. Your email address, a hashed password, your saved games, and your entry in the public leaderboard under the display name you choose.
While you play. Gameplay events: which milestones you reach, how long each stage takes, which upgrades you buy, when you stop playing. These are used to balance the game and to show anonymous comparisons such as "3% of players found this path". They are aggregated and never published in a form that identifies an individual player.
Cookies and similar technologies
| Purpose | Set by | Consent required | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keeping you signed in | this site | no, strictly necessary | session, or 30 days if you stay signed in |
| Storing your game locally | this site | no, strictly necessary | until you clear it |
| Audience measurement | Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager | yes | up to 13 months |
Analytics cookies are only set after you accept them in the consent banner. You can change your mind at any time through the banner's settings link, and refusing them costs you nothing: the site and the game work identically.
Consent framework
Asymptote Works participates in and complies with the IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework, and adheres to all of its Specifications and Policies. It uses Consent Management Platform no. 92.
The consent manager did not load — a browser extension may be blocking it. You can withdraw consent by clearing this site's cookies and site data in your browser settings, or by writing to contact@asymptoteworks.com.
Legal bases
Analytics rely on your consent. Your account and saved games rely on performance of a contract — we cannot keep your game safe without storing it. Server logs and abuse prevention rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the service available and secure.
Who else sees your data
- Google Ireland Limited, for Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, only after you consent. Google may transfer data outside the European Union under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
- Hetzner Online GmbH, our hosting provider, whose servers are located in Germany. Your saved games and account data never leave that infrastructure.
There is no advertising network on this site, no data broker, and no sale of personal data.
How long things are kept
Server logs are kept for 12 months. Analytics data is kept for up to 25 months. Account data and saved games are kept for as long as your account exists, and for 12 months after your last sign-in if you abandon it, after which the account is deleted. Gameplay events are anonymised rather than deleted, so that game balance work is not lost — once anonymised they can no longer be linked to you.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, take it elsewhere in a portable format, object to processing based on legitimate interest, or withdraw consent to analytics at any time. Write to contact@asymptoteworks.com and you will get an answer within one month.
Deleting your account removes your email, your password, your saved games and your leaderboard entry.
If you think this site handles your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority. In France that is the CNIL, at cnil.fr.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 15, and no account should be created by one.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the new version will be posted here with a new date, and the consent banner will ask you again where the law requires it.
